Useful Terms - Body Functions!

Not all language learning involves text book precision. You must also learn how people actually talk, and that sometimes involves learning words that are, well, a bit awkward. Typically this means those things that have to do with our bodily functions... and some of the more "distasteful" things that result.
Presented here is a brief look at some of the words used to descirbe our less-than-textbook bodily functions. These are pretty universal in Spanish, but you'll also find that nearly all Spanish speakers have their own local and regional terms for these things.
But as always, start with the universal terms and adapt as your experience grows.

  • la diarrea: diarrhea
  • el estreñimiento: constipation
  • el dolor de cabeza: headache
  • el dolor de garganta: sore throat
  • las náuseas: nausea
  • la indigestión
  • el estomudo: sneeze
